Schedules

  1. Schedule definition
  2. Schedule primitive actions
  3. Schedule configuration

Schedules are defined at a high level in the application configuration file, with all dynamic data being persisted through event distribution. In the application configuration file you specify one or more schedule names and the devices and types they activate. You also need to generate a set of primitive actions for schedules that defines what is to be done to control the device, i.e. wbhich webbrick controls the zone valve. Schedule's are split into two components the user interface from which the home owner can change the schedule settings and the schedule processor that issues control events at the configured schedule times.

Schedule definition

The schedule defintions are typically in the prod.cfg file and are defined by your installer. They consist of internal and display names for each schedule along with internal and display names for each device that is part of the schedule. These devices may be simple onoff devices or adjustable, i.e. zone setpoints. Some of the devices may be purely logical within the WebBrick gateway e.g. a zone is configured for a temperature and actually consists of a open/close vavlve and a temperature sensor that work together to maintain a desired value, or physical devices such as a light dimmer channel.

Schedule primitive actions

These are in the XML event despatch files and are defined by your installer. These define what is to happen when a zones threshold is changed or the lights are to come on.

Schedule configuration

This is controlled by the home owner from the user interface and enables him to chnage the time at which a group of actions occur and what the actions are. e.g. switch lights, adjust zone temperature. Not all devices that are part of a schedule need be adjusted at each point.
